Can you tell us about your academic background?

I went to the University of Florida and received an undergraduate degree in Animal Sciences before continuing my education at UF’s College of Veterinary Medicine. I was in Gainesville for about eight years, did all of my schooling there, and I really enjoyed being there.

Why did you choose the veterinary profession?

I became interested in veterinary medicine actually back in high school. I was really involved in some of the fostering programs that my school had available at that time, and I was really passionate about finding homes for kittens, making sure that they got the best care that they needed. That was my first step in the door to becoming interested in veterinary medicine. My favorite part, honestly, would have to be feline medicine. My favorite appointments are the cat appointments. Cats are not small dogs, so it's always been very important to me that they get their own tailored care, whether it's preventative medicine or helping them feel better, because they're definitely masters at hiding their illnesses. So it's always a good day for me when I'm able to figure out what's going on and put together a plan for them to hopefully feel better and for them just to feel better and for their family to be happy with how they're doing.

What are your personal hobbies and interests?

Outside of the hospital, you'll probably mostly find me hanging out with my own pets. I have two cats myself. One is an orange and white cat named Pepperjack, and the other is a black and white cat named Spot. I definitely enjoy spending time with them. I'm definitely a big reader and beachgoer. I also love going to concerts! Anything that has to do with live music is really important.

Can you share your work history in the veterinary field?

After I graduated vet school, I started at a small animal general practice over in Cape Coral. I was there for about a year and then ended up moving to the West Palm Beach area to be closer to family. Outside of working for All Paws, I am hoping to eventually start helping out with some shelter relief as well.
